RBI on AI-accelerated cyber threats: could you show what your AI did?

In early June 2026 the Reserve Bank of India issued advisories on AI-accelerated cyber threats to banks and other regulated entities. As Business Standard reported on 10 June, citing people familiar with the matter, RBI asked them for a board-approved gap assessment and a time-bound action plan by the end of June.

KPMG's public summary of the advisory, titled AI-Accelerated Cyber Threats and Related Safeguards, lists among its domains AI agents and privileged access, and logging, traceability and forensic readiness.

For a bank, NBFC or fintech whose AI agents can move money, the question this puts on the table is plain: when an agent acted, is there a record of what it did that someone outside your team could rely on?

This is a reading of public reporting and of a public summary, not legal advice.
